The quality of the aluminum foil used to wrap up Thanksgiving leftovers may differ because of the gauge, or thickness, of the foil. CEO learned that at Novelis, the 30,000 pound rolls of aluminum sheeting are cut, coated, and heated to specifications for its customers, such as Reynolds Wrap. Aluminum pans used for baking are also made from the product Novelis prepares for their manufacturers. Novelis aluminum has its role in automobile manufacturing, housing materials, signage, and aerospace materials.
CEO met with the leadership team of Novelis, and noted the emphasis on the environment Novelis creates for its employees. Plant manager Ryan Smith and his team --Amanda, Eric, Jeff, Ryan, and Kacie--shared the desire for employees to respect, listen, and lead. A sign in the conference room states the Novelis Cultural Beliefs are:

CEO not only valued the tour but also the answers to their questions about leadership, being women in industry, addressing conflict in the workplace, leading vs. managing, and employee retention.
Novelis said one of its greatest challenges is like everywhere else--employee retention. Therefore, they try to make their workplace one where individuals WANT to stay and enjoy coming to work.
Increasing aluminum recycling is a worldwide goal of Novelis. In other countries, it amounts to as much as 80-90%. In the US, that number is about 42%.
